RIP Guy Chichester
When Guy saw the warning siren poles installed , he had to laugh. The sirens were to warn the citizens of Seabrook in the event of a “nuclear accident”.
Guy knew there were no evacuation plans if there was . Guy knew what a clusterfuck the rush hour, summertime, seacoast traffic was, even without a ” nuclear emergency evacuation.”
He knew the poles and their sirens were a joke . Well, he had a joke of his own.
This dude took a chain saw to a warning siren and took it down.
He was charged with ‘malicious destuction’, and faced some serious jail time .
He beat the charges , successfully arguing that his action was not not malicious , but instead was a political act .
One of the key documents he used in his defense was Article 10 of the New Hampshire Constitution:
The Right of Revolution.
Article 10 states,
“The doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power, and oppression,
is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind.”
